Description: Patchouli, a bushy herb of the genus Lamiaceae. It belongs to the mint family, with erect stems, reaching around 75 centimeters tall with small, pale pink-white flowers.

  • The ancient herb patchouli originated in India but is now commercially grown in many countries around the world.

     

    Distilled from the leaves of the plant, the fragrant oil has many applications. The bushy plant grows about 75 cm (2.5 ft) tall, and it is part of the mint family. The dark green leaves resemble broad mint leaves with serrated edges. The scientific names are Pogostemon Cablin or Pogostemon Patchouli, depending on the species.

     

    Patchouli essential oil has many uses. It is a scent ingredient for perfumes, an insect repellant and it has many beneficial health properties. The oil extraction process begins by cutting and drying the plants for about seven days. Then they are steam distilled to extract the oil.
